Orion 2022 Whitehorse Dragon Boat Festival WOWS Box Hill

Earlier this month, Orion sponsored the 2022 Whitehorse Dragon Boat Festival celebration in Box Hill, Melbourne’s iconic destination for Asian culture and cuisine.

This was the first time the Whitehorse City Council and the Asian Business Association of Whitehorse (ABAW) had curated such a large event in Box Hill since the start of the pandemic in 2020, and also the second time since 2019 it has been sponsored by the Orion International Group.

This year’s event was bigger than ever.

The non-stop celebration offered delicious food, wonderful music and spectacular entertainment. A wide range of market stalls presented authentic Asian cuisine along with traditional Asian souvenirs and merchandise. The crowd pleasers – a lion dance, group tai chi and kung fu performances, and a Chinese face-changing show – were showcased in turn to transport visitors to a magical, bustling world packed with joy and fascinating Asian cultural customs.

As the title sponsor of the event, Orion created an eye-catching pop-up stall decorated with romantic flowers and plants, and also prepared a lucky wheel for everyone to have fun with.

As a socially responsible business, Orion always aims to positively impact the communities in which our developments are located by supporting initiatives that benefit local neighbourhoods, often in partnership with various community groups and organizations.

In the last few years, Orion has supported Eastern Health Foundation and the Police Blue Ribbon Foundation by donating to the fund for upgrading their equipment or service. Last year, Orion also supported the Epworth Eastern hospital by sponsoring their Kindness Movement – offering their staff free coffees in appreciation of the hard work and self-sacrifice of these frontline workers during those extremely challenging times.
