Supporting Eastern Region's Mental Health Initiatives: Orion Attending Maroondah Rotary's Gala Night as Sponsor

Last month, Orion had the honour of attending Maroondah Rotary's Gala Night as one of the major sponsors alongside Eastland Shopping Centre.

2024 marks the second year of Maroondah Rotary’s Gala Night. The remarkable evening was dedicated to supporting mental health initiatives in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne through fundraising, as well as extending the sincerest care to Australia’s cancer research and healthcare system.

This year, Maroondah Rotary raised funds mainly through a Silent Auction during the Gala Night. All the proceeds from the Gala Night will be entirely allocated to community initiatives targeting mental health and well-being. Distinguished guests including Orion, enthusiastically participated in the auction to support the fundraising endeavors.

As a comprehensive real estate developer, Orion is currently underway with our inaugural retirement living development in Ringwood, a suburb in Melbourne's east, under our newly established sub-brand - Dux Living. Recognising the pivotal role of the healthcare system in the region, Orion has forged impactful partnerships with Eastern Health Foundation, Eastern Health's charitable arm, since 2019. Through various sponsorships, such as supporting the Gala Night, Orion shows our commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of communities in the eastern region.

Maroondah Rotary has invited Australian actor Samuel Johnson as a guest speaker and his impactful speech marked a highlight of the night. Mr. Johnson is an award-winning actor and has been active in the television and film industry for many years, but his achievements go beyond that. In 2012, Mr. Johnson co-founded the cancer vanquishing charity - ‘Love Your Sister’ along with his sister, Connie Johnson. Mr. Johnson has shared with us his unicycle journey around the entire Australia for fundraising purposes in 2013 to 2014. Through unicycling, Mr. Johnson has successfully raised nearly $20 million for cancer research under Love Your Sister. Mr. Johnson’s astonishing contributions to Australia’s healthcare sector has earned him the prestigious title of Victorian Australian of the year in 2018.

Apart from Mr. Johnson, Maroondah Rotary has also welcomed representatives from Eastern Health Foundation to share with us their upcoming mental health initiatives. They have also engaged in profound and educational discussions with us about community mental health and well-being, through a 'Q&A' session.

Looking ahead, Maroondah Rotary will partner with Eastern Health Foundation to bolster support the new mental health initiatives, aiming to assist individuals in the community that are struggling with mental health issues, and helping them in rediscovering hope and reclaiming stability in life.

Orion will remain committed to contributing to endeavors aimed at fostering a healthier community.

Seizing the opportunity, Orion was able to promote the launch of our sub-brand - Dux Living's first retirement living development - Dux Churchill, during the Gala Night.
